Mobile Fire-Rescue Department Donates Assets to St. Elmo-Irvington Volunteer Firefighters

Apr 26th, 2019

MOBILE, Ala. – The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department completed the transfer of assets to the St. Elmo-Irvington Volunteer Fire Department, with the donation of a former reserve ladder truck. The process was started when concerns were raised and presented to County Commissioner Jerry Carl regarding adequate equipment needed to respond to a Walmart distribution center located in the St. Elmo-Irvington area. From there, Commissioner Carl initiated conversations with City of Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson requesting equipment to help, specifically a ladder truck.

Mobile Fire-Rescue happily answered the call, and on Wednesday, April 24th, documents were signed, and St. Elmo-Irvington VFD took possession of the vehicle.

“We’re blessed to be in a position to be able to do this. We certainly want to help other departments help their communities whenever we have that opportunity. This ladder truck is in really good shape. It still runs well. I think it will serve their community well,” says Fire Chief Mark Sealy.

MFRD has previously donated trucks, equipment, and tools to the Prichard Fire Department and the Theodore Volunteer Fire Department.
