The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department in Mobile, Alabama, has received Accredited Agency status with the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) for meeting the criteria established through the CFAI’s voluntary self-assessment and accreditation program. The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department is one of more than 300 agencies to achieve Internationally Accredited Agency status with the CFAI and the Center for Public Safety Excellence, Inc. (CPSE).
Mobile Fire-Rescue Department became only the ninth fire department in the country that holds the distinction of an Insurance Services Office 1 (ISO-1) rating, Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) accredited status and Commission on Fire Accreditation accredited status.
“The journey to accreditation unfolded over a two-year period and rested upon the collective contributions of many individuals. Central to this was the unwavering dedication exhibited by the members of the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department in their daily responsibilities, forming the bedrock of our progress. The entire team rightfully deserves acknowledgment for this significant achievement,” Fire Chief Jeremy Lami said.
As with the CAAS accreditation that was awarded earlier this year, the CFAI accredited agency status shows a commitment to adhering to best industry practices to provide the highest quality of service to the community. The ongoing self-assessment provides a framework for continued self-improvement.
The CFAI is dedicated to assisting the fire and emergency service agencies throughout the world in achieving excellence through self-assessment and accreditation to provide continuous quality improvement and the enhancement of service delivery to their communities. The CFAI process is voluntary and provides an agency with an improvement model to assess their service delivery and performance internally and then works with a team of peers from other agencies to evaluate their completed self-assessment.
