Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org MOBILE FIRE INVESTIGATORS SEEKING INFORMATION Investigators with the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department are seeking anyone with information regarding a rash of Arson related fires in the Birdville Community which is part of the Mobile Housing Board property. There have been at least five fires to two structures and two to vehicles in the area since March 2007. The first fire occurred on March 10, 2007 at 1351 Eagle Drive. There have been at least three fires at this location. The other structure fires have occurred at 1350 Eagle Drive. All the fires appeared to have been deliberately set by person or persons. Both structures were empty at the time of the fires. Authorities with the Mobile Housing Board have reported copper being stolen in vacant structures as well. No injuries have occurred thus far. Charges would include Arson 2nd Degree. Anyone with any information that may be helpful is asked to call the Mobile Fire-Rescue Departments Bureau of Fire Prevention at 208-7311. Arson 2nd is a Class B Felony and could carry a prison sentence of not more than 20 years or less than 2 years with a possible fine of not more than $10 thousand. ###
