Mobile Fire Investigators Searching for Arson Suspect

Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org MOBILE FIRE INVESTIGATORS SEARCHING FOR ARSON SUSPECT Investigators with Mobile Fire-Rescue are searching for a suspect who is believed to have set a fire in a house located at 1818 Van Liew Road, East, this Tuesday morning, May 24. The call was received at approximately 8:20 a.m. this morning and firefighters arrived shortly after reporting smoke coming from a two-story brick structure. No injuries were reported. Investigators are looking for Michael Larome Spanks, 39. Spanks is described as a black male, 5’9” and weighing approximately 220 lbs. Arson 2nd degree would be the charge because no one was inside the structure at the time the fire occurred. Anyone with information or knows the whereabouts of Spanks is asked to call the Arson Hotline at 251-208-MFRD. Engines 9, 16, 20, truck 17, rescue 24 and District Chief John Young responded. The fire is being investigated by the Bureau of Fire Prevention. ###
