Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org MOBILE FIRE INVESTIGATORS ARREST JUVENILE FIRE SETTER Investigators with the Mobile Fire Marshal’s office arrested a 15-year-old male juvenile Monday morning, August 13 in connection to a manufactured home fire that occurred at 940 Dawes Road, Lot 46, early Sunday morning, August 12. The fire was reported at approximately 2:42 a.m. on Sunday morning. The caller advised that someone attempted to set the outside of the residence on fire. When firefighters arrived they were met by Mobile Police Officers who advised the fire was out and showed them the location of the fire. They were advised that a neighbor had extinguished the fire with a garden hose. Mobile Fire Investigators were told by witnesses that the juvenile suspect had made previous threats during the day that he was going to “burn the trailer park down”. Witnesses told investigators they observed the same juvenile suspect attempting to ignite the vinyl skirting around the manufactured home. The occupants were home and inside at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported. Damage is estimated at approximately $500. The juvenile suspect will be charged with Arson 1st. ###
