Michael Donald Avenue
Residential Fire
Mobile, AL – At approximately 13:04 hours, Mobile Fire-Rescue Department companies were dispatched to the 100 block of Michael Donald Avenue for reports of smoke emanating from a 2-story, wood-frame, residential structure. Upon arrival on scene, fire personnel confirmed smoke visible with flames showing at the rear of the vacant dwelling.
Approximately 6 companies worked to control flames, ventilate smoke and toxic gases from the building, and search for potential victims. After about an hour, fire crews were able to successfully extinguish flames and all extensions. Primary and secondary searches of the structure yielded no victims inside of the structure. No injuries were reported during the incident.
Vincent K. Scott (age unknown) was arrested for Arson 3rd and Criminal Trespass 2nd related to the incident. Fire Investigators determined that the fire damage was accidental as a result of a cooking accident.
