MFRD Takes Delivery of New Air Packs

Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-7163/Fax: (251) 208-5843 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org MFRD TAKES DELIVERY ON NEW AIR PACKS Mobile Fire-Rescue has taken delivery on new Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA\air packs) and personnel will be training on usage this week at the Training Academy located at 860 Owens Street. Firefighters will go through 3 hours of training this week in groups at 8:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 6 p.m. The first hour will be in the classroom as representatives from MSA will go over new features of the SCBA. The next two hours will be spent using the air packs going through an obstacle course and smoke drills in the tower. Once training is complete the air packs will be placed into service. The SCBA’s were purchased with a $1.3 million federal assistance to firefighters grant and are replacing older/outdated equipment. ###
