Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org MFRD SEEKING HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS FOR CADET PROGRAM Mobile Fire-Rescue Department is seeking qualified high school students to become Paramedic Cadets. The department will pay those hired at a starting annual salary of $24,098 and send them to the University of South Alabama to become EMT-Paramedics. Cadets will receive paid vacation and holidays and health and dental insurance. After successful completion of the program Cadets will be eligible for hire as a Firemedic and a full time salary with a range of $32,000-$44,409. To be eligible for the program students must: - Be at least 18 years of age and must not have reached age 22. - Must be able to pass the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT). - Graduated from a standard senior high school or G.E.D. - Must meet admission requirements for the University of South Alabama. - Must have maintained a 3.0 grade average in high school. - Scored a minimum of 19 on the ACT. - A valid driver’s license from state of residence. - Have no criminal record.
