Cooper is assigned as the department's Training Officer and (Urban Search & Rescue Team) USAR Coordinator and was nominated by Deputy Chief Charlie Parmar. His nomination is brought forth because of his rich technical experience and professional insight. He has identified and solved many potential training shortfalls within various divisions of the department that could have caused operational and employee certification problems had they had been left unattended. Cooper realizes that personal involvement and individual commitment are the cornerstones to any successful organization. He knows each subordinate's abilities, limitations and desires and integrates this knowledge into their daily activates. Cooper has rendered invaluable assistance to the department by training his personnel and personnel throughout the department to become more proficient in their duties. Cooper has demonstrated a continuing high degree of professional excellence. His knowledge of his professional specialty, total dedication to duty and willingness to assist in any capacity has made him a valuable asset to the department. He is a continual source of innovative ideas and suggestions. In addition, he is particularly adept at working with others, both superiors and subordinates, with a natural sincerity and frankness, which displays his concern and feelings. Cooper's confidence in himself and pride in the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department are readily apparent by the enthusiasm and zeal displayed in any assignment, designated or assumed. Cooper was presented the honor at a breakfast at the Tiny Diny Restaurant hosted by the Pleasant Valley Opportunity Club (Formally the Pleasant Valley Optimist Club).
