The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department (MFRD) proudly announces that Fire Service Driver Jonathan R. Jeffrey has been named as the Firefighter of the Month for January. Driver Jeffrey has consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication, professionalism, and leadership since joining the department in 2018. His commitment to excellence and service makes him a valuable asset to the Mobile Fire-Rescue team.
Promoted to Driver in 2023, he has readily embraced leadership responsibilities, investing significant time in training and mentoring younger crew members. His dedication to sharing knowledge and refining essential skills, both within and outside his team, strengthens the entire department and exemplifies his commitment to its success.
Driver Jeffrey said helping people in our community in their times of need is an honor and privilege. “When they're having the worst day of their life, they get to call us and we get to show up and help them and make a difference.”
Beyond his training and leadership contributions, Driver Jeffrey consistently displays professionalism and composure in emergency situations, whether responding to fire or medical calls. He remains calm under pressure, ensuring each call is handled efficiently and effectively, prioritizing the safety and well-being of the community.
Driver Jeffrey said his path to firefighting was inspired by a personal experience. “When I was at a young age, I was in a bad car accident out in West Mobile,” he shared. “I still remember the crews coming and helping us that day.” That incident, as well as having family friends who were on the fire department, inspired him to pursue a career helping others, improving the community, and taking care of people.
Jeffrey has been working with MFRD since November 2018. He previously won the Meritorious Service Operation Award from actions taken in May of 2020 on the scene of a serious motor vehicle collision.
