Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org INTENTIONAL FIRE AT ALTAPOINTE HEALTH SYSTEMS Mobile Firefighters were dispatched to an audible fire alarm sounding at AltaPointe Health Systems located at 2400 Gordon Smith Drive at approximately 12:14 a.m. Wednesday, August 19. When firefighters arrived at approximately 12:22 a.m. they discovered light smoke coming from the structure and called for a full response to that location. Firefighters discovered a fire in one of the offices in the building and were able to extinguish and confine the fire to that location. There was varying degrees of smoke damage throughout. Fire Investigators noted that it appeared that the office had been ransacked and the fire may have been used to conceal a possible burglary. No injuries were reported. The fire caused an estimated $100 thousand in damage. Anyone with information pertaining to the fire is ask to call the Mobile Fire-Rescue Arson Hotline at 208-MFRD. Engines 12, 14, 15, truck 10, rescue 14, District Chief Alex Trenier responded to the call. ###
