Holloway Elementary School Fire
MOBILE, Ala. – At approximately 08:17 hours, Mobile Fire-Rescue Department crews were dispatched to Holloway Elementary School at 625 Stanton Road for a fire in the structure. All students, faculty, and staff had safely evacuated the building prior to MFRD arrival on scene. Upon arrival, fire personnel confirmed smoke visible from the roof of the school. Crews entered the school to investigate and locate the source of the smoke and fire.
Firefighters discovered a dryer on fire, with items inside of the appliance burning. The small fire was quickly extinguished, while the dryer and its contents were appropriately removed from the scene. Smoke and hazardous gases were fully ventilated from the structure prior to allowing civilians to re-enter. Students and staff were able to safely return to regular school activities.
No fire personnel nor civilians were injured during the incident.
