MOBILE, Ala. – At approximately 02:13 hours, Mobile Fire-Rescue Department companies were dispatched to the 1800 block of Herman Street for reports of a home on fire in the area. Engine Co. 14 arrived on scene at approximately 02:18 to confirm flames visible from the front of a single-story, residential structure.
All occupants had successfully evacuated the home prior to MFRD arrival on scene. The homeowners reported hearing the sound of shattering glass and awaking to find the living room on fire before escaping the building.
Fire ground operations were immediately established, as Engine 14’s crew secured a water supply from a nearby hydrant and made entry to begin their initial fire attack. Additional arriving companies secured a secondary suppression line to serve as back-up.
Search & rescue crews performed a thorough search of the home to confirm no civilian occupants remained inside.
The fire was reported under control at approximately 02:36 hours, with teams preparing to horizontally ventilate toxic smoke and gas from the structure.
There were no injuries reported from the scene. Fire Investigators continue to review the scene and investigate the cause of the incident.
Additional updates will be provided as the investigation unfolds.
