Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org HALL’S MOTORSPORTS INVESTIGATION CONCLUDED Mobile Fire-Rescue Investigators have concluded their investigation into the cause of the fire at Hall’s Motorsports located at 1520 West I-65 Service Road, South that occurred on Monday, March 22. The cause of the fire is being ruled non-suspicious/undetermined and appears to have originated in a heating closet at the rear of the store. It should be noted that the fire was not caused by the heater but started in the heater closet. Investigators believe the fire may have been burning unnoticed for quite some time, spreading into the crawl space above the drop ceiling before employees noticed smoke coming from the ceiling above in the showroom area and called 9-1-1. The fire caused an estimated $2 million in damage. The fire was reported at approximately 11:22 a.m. and fire officials called for a 2nd alarm assignment sending additional firefighters to help assist in extinguishing the blaze. No injuries were reported. ###
