Both departments have agreed to a friendly competition to raise awareness. Breast cancer awareness t-shirts are available for sale at each department to support the cause. The department that raises the most funds during Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October) will have its chief wear a pink suit to the Mobile City Council meeting scheduled for November 1. “Fighting for a Cure” shirts can purchased from Mobile Fire-Rescue Department Central Station at 701 St Francis Street, calling 251-208-5818 or emailing percy.harris@cityofmobile.org. Shirts can also be purchased at the Greater Gulf State Fair. The cost is $15 for short sleeve (all sizes) and $20 for long sleeves (all sizes). The public can purchase a “Heroes in Pink” breast cancer awareness t-shirt at Mobile Police Department Headquarters, 2460 Government Blvd. The cost is $15, with 2X or 3X sizes $17.
