First Responders Cancer Shirt Campaign

Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-7163/Fax: (251) 208-5843 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org FIRST RESPONDERS CANCER SHIRT CAMPAIGN Mobile Fire-Rescue and Mobile Police for the first time, will conduct joint campaigns to raise money to fight breast cancer and bring awareness of the disease that touches so many lives. Both departments have agreed to a friendly competition to raise awareness. Breast cancer awareness t-shirts are available for sale at each department to support the cause. The department that raises the most funds during Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October) will have its chief wear a pink suit to the Mobile City Council meeting scheduled for November 1. “Fighting for a Cure” shirts can purchased from Mobile Fire-Rescue Department Central Station at 701 St Francis Street, calling 251-208-5818 or emailing percy.harris@cityofmobile.org. Shirts can also be purchased at the Greater Gulf State Fair. The cost is $15 for short sleeve (all sizes) and $20 for long sleeves (all sizes). The public can purchase a “Heroes in Pink” breast cancer awareness t-shirt at Mobile Police Department Headquarters, 2460 Government Blvd. The cost is $15, with 2X or 3X sizes $17. Mobile Fire-Rescue has several charities that it donates to including the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute to support research and patient services. Call 251-208-2818 for additional information.
