Firefighters to Participate in Wallyball Tournament

Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-5806/Fax: (251) 208-5813 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org FIREFIGHTERS TO PARTICIPATE IN WALLYBALL TOURNAMENT Mobile firefighters will be participating in a Wallyball Tournament on Saturday, February 12, 2005 at the Downtown branch of the YMCA. The tournament is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. and will last most of the day on Saturday. There will be fourteen (14) teams that consist of firefighters from the various stations throughout the department. The tournament is being conducted as part of the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department's Fitness and Wellness program. Wallyball was invented by Joe Garcia in 1979 and has been billed as the sport of the millennium. Wallyball is basically volleyball played on a racquetball court and teams consist of 2, 3 or 4 players per side. ###
