Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org FIREFIGHTER RECRUITS TO TRAIN IN LIVE FIRE EXERCISE The training division of the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department will be conducting a controlled live burn exercise in a vacant house located at 3060 Bay Crescent Drive on Friday, May 2. The burn is part of the on-going training of twenty-eight firefighter recruits who will graduate later in June. The recruits will be conducting hands-on training on ventilation and salvage and overhaul techniques at approximately 8:30 a.m. After lunch the training staff will set several fires inside the one-story, wood frame structure and take groups of the recruits inside to extinguish the fires. The purpose of the training is to expose the recruits to the conditions of a real fire but in a controlled environment. At the end of the training the structure will be allowed to burn to the ground. ###
