Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org FIRE DESTROYS VACANT HOUSE A vacant structure located at 1563 Orange Street was destroyed by fire this morning, Tuesday, September 21. The first call was received at approximately 4:36 a.m. and firefighters reported the single story, wood frame structure fully involved with fire upon arrival. The fire had broken through the roof causing it to collapse into the structure. No injuries were reported. Fire Investigators determined the structure was vacant but there were signs of heavy vagrant activity in the structure. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time and no dollar amount has been established. Engines 2, 9, 11, truck 17, rescue 24 and District Chief John Young responded. ###
