Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org FIRE DESTROYS BARBER-BEAUTY SHOP A fire destroyed a barber-beauty shop located at 1180 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Ave at around midnight, Wednesday, May 21. The caller reported smoke and flames coming from the structure and when firefighters arrived on the scene they reported heavy fire showing from the business. The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time. Damage is estimated at approximately $50 thousand. No injuries were reported. Engines 3, 8, 14; truck 4; rescue 3 and District Chief J.D. Young responded to the call. The Bureau of Fire Prevention is conducting the investigation. ###
