Fire Damages Upstairs Apartment

Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (334) 208-5806/Fax: (334) 208-5813 FIRE DAMAGES UPSTAIRS APARTMENT, NO INJURIES A fire in an upstairs apartment, located at 22 South Florida Street, Apartment B, caused an estimated $10 thousand in damage. The fire was reported on Thursday, July 6, 2000 at approximately 8:45 a.m. with first arriving firefighters on the scene at approximately 8:49 a.m. When firefighters arrived they reported heavy fire coming from a window of the upstairs two-story, wood frame and brick veneer apartment. The occupant, Christopher Jordan, was not home at the time of the fire. The fire appears to have originated in the living room near or on the sofa. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the living room and hall. There was heavy heat and smoke damage in the remainder of the apartment. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported. Engines 12, 15, 23, truck 10, rescue 3 and District 3 Chief Howard Ollhoft, Sr. responded. ###
