Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-5806/Fax: (251) 208-5813 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org FIRE DAMAGES LOCAL POOL BUSINESS Mobile Firefighters responded to a building fire located at 8050 Cottage Hill Road, early Wednesday morning, August 10, 2005. The fire was reported as an audible fire alarm at the Pioneer Pool Company at approximately 3:39 a.m. When firefighters arrived they advised they had a working fire in the rear of the approximately 15,000 square foot, one story pre-fab metal building and requested a full response to the business. The fire appears to have originated in the show room of the business and caused extensive fire and smoke damage throughout the structure. The fire appears to have originated in one of the hot tubs on display. The owner advised Mobile Fire Investigators that the tub along with several others was running as demos. The fire appears to have been caused by an electrical short in the tub. Damage is estimated between $50-100 thousand. No injuries were reported. Engines 6, 12, 22, truck 5, rescue 6 and District 2 Chief Johnny Morris responded. ###
