Fire Damages Bedroom, No Injuries Reported

Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (334) 208-5806/Fax: (334) 208-5813 E-Mail: huffman@ci.mobile.al.us FIRE DAMAGES BEDROOM, NO INJURIES REPORTED No injuries were reported in a fire that originated in the Southeast bedroom of 505 Dauphin Island Parkway early this morning, Tuesday, September 5, 2000. Mobile Fire-Rescue Department was notified at approximately 2:43 a.m. and firefighters arrived shortly after at approximately 2:47 a.m. The fire appears to have originated in or near a sofa against the wall in the Southeast bedroom at a receptacle used to power an air conditioner. There was fire throughout the bedroom with smoke and heat damage to the entire interior of the structure. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Damage is estimated at $12 thousand on the structure and contents. The owner of the structure is Dorothy Rowell. Engines 9, 8, 23, truck 17, rescue 23 and District 4 Chief Harold Miller responded. ###
