Fire Damages Apartment

Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org FIRE DAMAGES APARTMENT Firefighters responding to a report of an apartment fire Monday, November at 300-A Brazier Drive, North were met with heavy fire and smoke coming from the two-story, wood frame/brick structure. They were advised upon arrival that the 57-year-old female occupant escaped unharmed and was at a neighbor’s apartment and no one else was inside. The call was received at approximately 10:50 a.m. Firefighters arrived shortly after at approximately 10:55 a.m. The fire appears to have originated in a bedroom and spread heat and smoke throughout the apartment including the attic above. The cause of the fire appears to have been accidental and the exact cause remains under investigation. No injuries were reported and damage is estimated at approximately $15 thousand. Engines 8, 14, 23, truck 17, rescue 14 and District Chief Frank Byrd responded to the fire. The department’s Bureau of Fire Prevention is in charge of the investigation. The property is part of the Roger Williams Housing Community and is owned by Mobile Housing Board. ###
