Cuase of 5630 Highway 90 Fire Determined

Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org CAUSE OF 5630 HIGHWAY 90 FIRE DETERMINED Fire Investigators with Mobile Fire-Rescue Department and Agents from the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) have concluded their on-site investigation into the cause of the fire that occurred early Friday, August 14 at 5630 Highway 90 and have determined, based on the evidence found, that the fire appears to have been intentionally set. The joint task force has spent the last 6 days meticulously digging and sifting through the rubble and debris, searching for clues and evidence to determine how and who may have set the fire. This by no means concludes the investigation, the task at hand now for fire investigators and agents is to find the person or persons responsible for setting the fire that heavily damaged three businesses in the Theodore area and bring them to justice. That fire caused an estimated $2 million in damage to both the structure and contents. Anyone with any information pertaining to this incident is ask to call the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department’s Arson Hotline at 208-MFRD or the ATF at 251-405-5000. Larue Steiner Road should be opened back up to traffic later this afternoon. ###
