Chelsea Drive S Residential Fire

Mar 12th, 2020

MOBILE, Ala. - At approximately 15:47 hours, Mobile Fire-Rescue Department crews were dispatched to the 3600 block of Chelsea Drive South for reports of a residence on fire in the area. Upon arrival on scene, fire personnel confirmed large amounts of smoke were visible, extending from a single-story, brick home. Neighbors on scene were uncertain as to the status of potential occupants or pets inside of the home.

With charged hose lines in tow, fire suppression teams made entry via the front door to locate signs of fire and begin their initial attack. Simultaneously, search & rescue units conducted a primary search of the home, sweeping room-to-room for potentially trapped occupants.

No victims/patients nor pets were discovered in the smoke-filled structure. Suppression teams were able to successfully battle back the majority of the blaze. At which time, a more thorough secondary search was conducted. The homeowners would eventually arrive on scene to inform that no one was home at the time of the incident.

After approximately 35-40 minutes, MFRD firefighters had successfully extinguished all signs of fire within the residence. Toxic gases and heated smoke was horizontally ventilated from the structure. Crews proceeded to salvage property and personal items while searching walls, ceiling, and attic spaces for "hot spots" in need of extinguishment.

No injuries were sustained during fire scene operations. MFRD Investigators will continue to review the scene as the investigation to determine the call of the fire is ongoing.
