MOBILE, Ala. – At approximately 13:53 hours, Mobile Fire-Rescue Department Engine 6 was dispatched to the area 2600 block of Charlotte Oaks Drive for an electronic fire alarm sounding in a residential home. The alarm in the aforementioned home yielded no fire; however, Engine 6 crew discovered smoke visible from the eaves of a 2-story, brick dwelling on the same block. At approximately 13:58 hours, Engine 6 requested a full-response to Charlotte Oaks Drive.
Fire crews began fire scene operations, including suppression and search & rescue teams. Fire was discovered in the attic of the residential property and quickly extinguished. All occupants safely evacuated the home as MFRD arrived on scene. No injuries were reported from the incident.
Fire Investigators have determined the fire accidental, following a lightning strike to the roof of the home.
