Carol Plantation Road House Fire Appears to be Arson

Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org CAROL PLANTATION ROAD HOUSE FIRE APPEARS TO BE ARSON Fire Investigators with Mobile Fire-Rescue Department are investigating a structure fire that occurred at 5905 Carol Plantation Road late Wednesday evening, October 3. The fire was reported at approximately 10:25 p.m. by an unknown caller advising there may be someone inside the one-story, wood frame structure. When firefighters arrived they reported the structure fully involved with fire. A search of the structure found no one inside. Investigators have not determined if someone lived in the structure or not. Evidence recovered at the scene indicates the fire may have been set on purpose. Damage is estimated at $45 thousand. Investigators have no suspects at this time. Fire Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Mobile Fire Marshal’s Office at 208-7484 and after hours/weekend at 208-7311. Charges would be Arson 2nd because the structure was unoccupied. Engines 6, 7, 19, truck 5, rescue7 and 23 and District 2 Chief Randy Smith responded to the fire. ###
