Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org AUGUST FIREFIGHTER OF THE MONTH Captain Ray Hildreth, 44, is a very dedicated employee of the Fire Service and Mobile Fire-Rescue Department and was nominated for this honor by members of his own crew. Ray has been with Mobile Fire-Rescue Department for over 12 years and has proved himself with his outstanding achievements in all that he has accomplished. His dedication and professionalism has proven time and time again that he is deserving of the position he holds. His devotion in providing assistance to all the citizens of the City of Mobile with training and classes indicates his strong commitment to furthering their safety during times of need. Ray has always thrived to be the best that he can be. Taking training opportunities both outside the department and those offered within the department to better himself and therefore better members of his crew at Engine 3 located at Central Station. He sets a prime example of how a firefighter should be as well as how a leader should lead in the department. He is constantly training the personnel assigned to him to make them the best they can be as well, which benefits the customers of the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department. One of his crew members wrote in his letter of recommendation his reason for nominating Ray was because of “his ability to fulfill his job requirements. He goes above and beyond to see that his crew is taken care of and are properly trained to do their job on and off the scene.” Ray can also always be counted on to help with training of new recruits and veteran firefighters at the departments Training Academy. He’s not afraid of fighting fire or hard work and definitely deserves the recognition that comes with receiving the Firefighter of the Month Award. The Firefighter of the Month program is sponsored by the Pleasant Valley Opportunity Club. ###
