Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org 2007 AZALEA TRAIL RUN MEDICAL RESPONSES Once again Mobile Fire-Rescue Department provided Emergency Medical Services (EMS) coverage for the 2007 Azalea Trail Run Saturday, March 24, 2007 in downtown Mobile. During the 6.5 hours Mobile Fire Rescue EMS crews responded to approximately twelve EMS related calls. Approximately eight of these responses were minor in nature ranging from falls during the run to scraped knees and elbows. There were four notable incidents including two Advanced Life Support (ALS) calls that required transport by rescue truck to local hospitals, the first transport was for Respiratory Distress, the second transport was for a Rapid Heart Beat and Disorientation. There were two patients treated on the scene then refusing transport, one for hyperglycemia and difficulty breathing, the other was administered a fluids for dehydration at the scene. Mobile Fire-Rescue used seven EMS Teams of one firefighter-EMT and one firemedic on each team during this event to include four bike teams, one mini ambulance and two rescue-transport units. These teams included fifteen firefighter/firemedics which includes an Operations Officer and Event Commander. ###
