Newman Lane Residential Fire
MOBILE, Ala. – At approximately 12:33 hours, Mobile Fire-Rescue Department companies responded to the 1100 block of Newman Lane for a working, residential fire. Civilians in the area reported smoke and flames visible from a residential structure in the area. Upon arrival on scene, fire personnel confirmed that a residential structure was fully-involved. MFRD crews quickly began fire scene tactics, including fire attack operations and a thorough search of the structure for possible victims.
Primary and secondary searches of the single-story home yielded all clear results. Flames extended into the attic and to an adjacent home. Firefighters fought flames and smoke for approximately an hour before all signs of flames were fully extinguished. The initial structure to which crews responded has been ruled a total loss, while the 2nd dwelling sustained significant damage. No estimated amount of damage is available.
Both structures were unoccupied at the time of the fire. No injuries were sustained during the incident. The cause of the fire is under further investigation.
