Mother of Two Charged with Arson

Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-5806/Fax: (251) 208-5813 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org MOTHER OF TWO CHARGED WITH ARSON Mobile Firefighters responded to a house fire located at 1603 Penicault Drive early Friday morning, May 27, 2005. The call was received at approximately 12:56 a.m. and first firefighters arrived at approximately 1:04 a.m. reporting heavy fire coming from the one-story, wood frame structure. As firefighters were responding the fire they spotted the occupant and her two small children walking down the road away from the fire. Mobile Police Officers picked her up and returned them to the scene. Mobile Fire Investigators found at least four separate points of origin where the fire appears to have been deliberately set in the structure. Angelique Nelcola Williams, 36, was taken into custody, transported to Mobile County Metro Jail and charged with Arson 1st degree. Other charges could also be brought against her. Neither Williams nor her two children were harmed in the fire. Damage is estimated between $50-60 thousand. No other injuries were reported.
