Mobile Fire-Rescue Prepared for Mardi Gras

Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-5806/Fax: (251) 208-5813 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org MOBILE FIRE-RESCUE PREPARED FOR MARDI GRAS Mobile Fire-Rescue Department Firemedics (Paramedics) and Firefighter EMT's (Emergency Medical Technicians) will be working throughout the parade routes during Mardi Gras this season providing medical assistance where needed. They will be working in teams of two on bikes, rescue/ambulances, and a mini-ambulance and in some cases on foot. If anyone finds themselves in need of medical attention look for the teams who will be wearing red shirts and/or jackets with Mobile Fire-Rescue in white lettering on the back. Parade goers can also notify a Police Officer or Sheriff's Deputy who will also be posted along the parade routes. During the 2005 Mardi Gras season the department responded to 131 medical calls of which 41 were serious enough to be transported to local medical facilities. Most injuries were minor in nature. ###
