MFRD Team Earns Lifesaving Award
On Saturday, July 7, 2018, Engine 12 and Rescue 12 responded for a patient/victim with a gunshot wound (GSW) to the head. Upon arrival on scene, the crews performed a quick trauma assessment and determined that the patient needed rapid transport to a trauma center, instead of on-scene interventions which would have delayed much-needed surgery.
The team was on scene for only 2 minutes and had a 5 minute transport through heavy traffic. For their quick thinking, proper recognition, teamwork, and appropriate action, Fire Chief Mark Sealy presented the crews with the Lifesaving Award. Job well done, and thank you for your service.
