It is open to anyone that wants to obtain Firefighter I/II certification through the Alabama Fire College. Upon completion it will allow the participant to apply for any Firefighter position within the State of Alabama. What: Firefighter I/II certification When: July 28 – September 23 Pre-requisites: 1. First Responder Medical Course - MFRD will offer this at the Training Academy the week before Recruit School is scheduled to begin – July 24-26. 2. CPAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test) – MFRD is currently offering this on a monthly basis, Contact Donna Palmer for scheduling at 251-208-2863 or palmerd@cityofmobile.org. Cost is $40.00 per attempt. No Credit Cards or Checks, Cash Only. Cost: $900 for in state students, $1900 for out of state students. Students will be required to purchase a uniform from the Alabama Fire College at an additional cost. Gear: If participant doesn’t already have fire gear, they can rent it from MFRD. $250 for Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and $250 for Firefighter turnout gear.
