Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-7163/Cell: (251) 605-0984 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org LIGHTNING CAUSE OF HOUSE FIRE Mobile Fire-Rescue firefighters responded to a house fire at Hillwood Dr, South on Tuesday, July 18, 2017. The call was reported at approximately 11:54 a.m. The caller advised they believed there was a lightning strike and moments after smoke was spotted coming from the structure. Firefighters arrived on the scene and reported heavy smoke showing from the single story, wood frame structure. Mobile fire investigators determined the fire originated in the attic and were able to verify the structure had been struck by lightning. No injuries were reported. No damage estimate is available at this time. Engines 2, 9, 16, 20; truck 24; rescue 7 and District Chief Elbert Cross responded to the fire. The arson unit conducted the investigation. ###
