LIGHTNING CAUSES HOUSE FIRE
It appears lightning may have caused a house fire, located in the 6100 block of Carol Plantation Road, this morning at approximately 10:50 a.m.
Initial reports were that two people may have been inside the structure but searches by firefighters found no one inside.
Neighbors told fire investigators that they heard a noise loud enough to shake their homes and moments later noticed smoke coming from the structure.
The fire appears to have originated in the living room but firefighters were able to quickly extinguish it before extensive damage could occur.
The cause is ruled accidental.
Damage is estimated at approximately $10 thousand. No injuries were reported.
Engines 6, 15, 19; truck 10; rescue 24, 28 and District Chief Marquis James responded to the call.
The Mobile Fire-Rescue Investigation Division conducted the investigation.
