Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org LAUNDRY ROOM FIRE STRICKLAND YOUTH CENTER A fire in the laundry room at Strickland Youth Center caused an estimated $10 thousand in damage. The call to 2315 Costarides Street was received as a fire alarm at approximately 3:20 a.m. Wednesday morning, January 13. When firefighters arrived they reported light smoke and were told that there was a fire in the laundry room. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and keep it contained to the area of origin. The fire originated in a dryer located in the laundry room. There was smoke and fire damage in that location. No injuries were reported. Engines 8, 12, 14; trucks 4, 17; rescue 14 and District Chief Frank Byrd responded. The MFRD Investigative Division conducted the investigation. ###
