MOBILE, Ala. – At approximately 04:55 hours, Mobile Fire-Rescue Department companies responded to the 600 block of Lancewood Drive for reports of smoke and flames visible from the kitchen of a residential home in the area. Upon arrival on scene, fire personnel confirmed flames emanating from a single-story dwelling.
All occupants successfully evacuated the structure prior to MFRD arrival. Fire crews were able to successfully extinguish all signs of flames and ventilate toxic fumes and gases from the home. No injuries were reported from the incident.
Fire Investigators have determined that the fire was accidental, stemming from a pot left cooking unattended on the stove overnight.
