Firefighters work at house fire

Mobile Fire-Rescue Department firefighters were dispatched at about 12:27 a.m. Friday morning, March 21, 2025, for a a report of a residential fire in the 2500 block of Karagan Drive in Mobile, Alabama.

Fire companies arrived on scene to find a single-story brick home with heavy smoke and fire coming from the eaves and windows. Occupants were outside.

Firefighters immediately began fire suppression efforts as the fire began to burn through the roof. Personnel also performed primary and secondary searches to make sure no one else was still inside the residence.

In about 15 minutes, personnel brought the blaze under control. They remained on scene to extinguish all hotspots.

The home was occupied by a mother who said she was awakened to a smoke filled house and grabbed her toddler and ran to the car as flames shot out her front bedroom window. The fire destroyed the structure and contents. 

There were no reports of any injuries. The fire is still under investigation at this time.
