MFRD Holds Controlled Training Burn
Mobile, AL - On Friday, June 22, 2018, the Mobile Fire-Rescue Training Division conducted a live house burn in a controlled environment. The residential structure at 2362 Old Military Road was burned in a safely monitored setting. The staged burning allowed the current recruit class (18-01) the opportunity to learn various fire scene operations - from fire behavior to structure ventilation and fire attack tactics - while also allowing MFRD companies vital fire training opportunities in fire emergency scenarios.
A 2nd staged house burn will take place on July 6th. Media outlets are invited to document the controlled burn. This is a great opportunity for the public to gain insight into what Mobile's newest firefighters are learning and enduring while also viewing department progression. Media staging areas will be established for appropriate safety and adequate viewing of the morning's event.
