Jianna T. Williams Named Firefighter of the Month for June

Jul 23rd, 2024

Jianna WilliamsMobile, Ala. — The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department (MFRD) is thrilled to announce Fire Service Driver Jianna T. Williams as the Firefighter of the Month for June 2024. Driver Williams joined the MFRD family in August 2019 and quickly demonstrated her commitment to serving the community. Her dedication continued as she earned her promotion to Driver in January 2024. Currently, she serves as a driver and paramedic on Rescue 3 at Central Station, showcasing her well-rounded skills and willingness to go the extra mile.

Driver Williams’ character is just as impressive as her skills. Her supervisor, Captain Anthony Rowett, highlighted her professionalism, respect, and compassion, qualities that inspire her colleagues. Captain Rowett went on to say, "She treats everybody like family, with that level of respect and dignity that you would treat your own family." He further praised her dedication to mentorship, making her a valuable asset to the department.

Driver Williams' path to firefighting wasn't traditional. After graduating from Illinois State University and working at a law firm, she realized her true calling was in hands-on service. Driven by a desire to help others, she joined the MFRD and embarked on paramedic studies shortly after completing her firefighter training.
“I always wanted to help people,” Williams said. “As a medic, I can help. I can give back if they're having a bad day. Even if it's the worst day,” she shared, expressing her commitment to making a positive impact during challenging moments.

Driver Williams’ dedication and skills have been acknowledged beyond this Firefighter of the Month recognition. She has previously received an EMS Lifesaving Award. Additionally, her commitment to physical fitness has been recognized with a Physical Fitness Ribbon.

The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department is honored to have Fire Service Driver Jianna T. Williams as part of the team. Her professionalism, compassion, and dedication to serving the community make her a true asset to the department.
