Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org INVESTIGATORS SEEKING CLUES TO BUILDING FIRE Mobile Fire Investigators are seeking clues and witnesses involving a fire at the Rendezvous Club located at 1280 Schillingers Road, North at Howells Ferry Road in West Mobile. The fire occurred Saturday morning, August 4 and was reported at approximately 3:37 a.m. by a passerby. Firefighters arrived on the scene at approximately 3:42 a.m. reporting heavy smoke and fire coming from the structure. The business was closed and unoccupied at the time of the fire. The fire appears to have been deliberately set causing an estimated $200 thousand in damage. One person told fire investigators they saw vehicles in the parking lot prior to the fires discovery. No injuries were reported Investigators are asking for help and any information that may assist them in finding the person or persons that may have set the fire. Anyone with information is ask to call the Mobile Fire Marshal’s office at 208-7484, nights/weekends at 208-7311 or Crimestoppers at 208-7000. Engines 1, 18, 29, truck 5, rescue 6 and District 3 Chief Melvin Stringfellow responded to the fire. ###
