Intentional Fire at Toulminville Convenience Store

Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org INTENTIONAL FIRE AT TOULMINVILLE CONVENIENCE STORE Firefighters responded to what appears to be an intentionally set fire at the Two Lion Convenience Store located at 763 Summerville Street in the Toulminville area late Monday evening April 7. The fire was reported at approximately 10:31 p.m. and firefighters arrived at approximately 10:36 p.m. reporting smoke coming from the rear of the business. Firefighters discovered a small fire at the rear of the business and quickly extinguished it. The fire originated in wood framed and screen addition that was built to cover multiple electrical boxes and condensers/compressors to the interior coolers. Fire investigators with Mobile Fire-Rescue recovered evidence that would indicate that the fire may have been deliberately set. The business was closed at the time of the fire and charges would be Arson 2nd degree. Property damage is estimated at approximately $5 thousand. No injuries were reported. Engines 12, 14, 15, truck 10, rescue 14 and District Chief Alex Trenier responded.
