Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-7163/Cell: (251) 605-0984 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org HOUSE FIRE WEINACKER AVENUE Firefighters responded to a reported house fire on Weinacker Avenue at approximately noon Tuesday, July 11. Upon arrival they reported smoke showing from the single story, wood frame residence. Firefighters made entry into the structure and discovered fire in the kitchen, which had spread to the cabinets and attic above. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire. The occupant was outside at the time the fire was discovered and attempted to extinguish it but was unsuccessful. Investigators with Mobile Fire-Rescue determined the fire to be accidental caused by an electrical issue with the stove near the controls and clock. The fire caused an estimated $4 thousand in damage. Engines 8, 9, Squad 11; truck 17; rescue 24 and District Chief Frank Byrd responded to the fire. ###
