Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org HOUSE FIRE, BURTONWOOD DRIVE A 9-1-1 caller on Monday evening, February 7, advised fire dispatchers that a vacant residence, located at 205 Burtonwood Drive, had flames showing from the roof. The call was received at approximately 11:04 p.m. and firefighters arriving on the scene reported heavy fire coming from the roof and attic of the structure. Firefighter searched the structure to insure no one was inside. The structure was vacant but still had utilities active. According to neighbors no one lived in the house full time but the owners were there from time to time. The fire appears to have originated above the heater closet in the attic. The fire completely destroyed the roof of the structure, causing an estimated $80 thousand in damage. The cause is under investigation. No injuries were reported. Engines 18, 22, 29,; truck 5; rescue 29 and District Chief David Rose responded. The Bureau of Fire Prevention is conducting the investigation. ###
