HOUSE FIRE AT MCFARLAND ROAD
The cause of a house fire located at 3058 McFarland Road Monday afternoon, June 20 is under investigation. The fire was reported at approximately 2:51 p.m. and firefighters reported heavy smoke showing from the rear of the single-story, wood frame structure.
A mother and her small child were home at the time of the fire and both escaped unharmed.
The fire appears to have originated on the exterior of the house near an air conditioning unit. The fire spread up the exterior wall under the eaves into the attic and broke through the roof over the bathroom. Firefighters were able to stop the fire before it reached the living area below.
The fire caused an estimated $40 thousand in damage.
Engines 6, 22, 26; truck 27; rescue 26 and District Chief Robert Thornton responded to the call.
The Bureau of Fire Prevention is investigating the cause.
