Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org HOUSE FIRE 1806 LA SALLE STREET The cause of a fire that occurred at 1806 La Salle Street at Houston Street Monday morning February 25 remains under investigation. The fire was reported at approximately 2:53 a.m. by a neighbor. Firefighters arrived at approximately 2:57 a.m. reporting flames showing from the rear and side of the one-story, wood frame structure. No one was home at the time of the fires discovery. It appears the fire originated in the rear of the structure in what appears to be a den. The fire spread to the attic above and caused varying degrees of smoke damage throughout the structure. No injuries were reported and fire investigators estimate damage at approximately $50 thousand. Engines 8, 9, 23, truck 17, rescue 23 and District 1 Chief John Young responded. ###
