Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-5806/Fax: (251) 208-5813 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org FIREFIGHTERS RESPOND TO CHURCH FIRE Mobile Firefighters responded to a church fire at the Day Spring Baptist Church, located at 2200 Cody Road, South, Sunday evening, December 26, 2004. The fire was reported at approximately 9:04 p.m. and firefighters arrived on the scene at approximately 9:08 p.m. and reported heavy smoke and fire showing on the exterior of the multi-story building. The fire appears to have originated on the exterior of the building and confined to the exterior with some smoke and water damage to the interior. Fire Investigators found no obvious accidental ignition sources in the area of the fires origin and are listing the cause as intentional. Investigators took samples in the area of the fires origin and will send those samples to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences to be processed. It takes approximately 2-3 weeks to get results back. No injuries were reported in the fire and damage estimate is $10 thousand.
