Firefighters Respond to Attic Fire at Night Club

Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (334) 208-5806/Fax: (334) 208-5813 FIREFIGHTERS RESPOND TO ATTIC FIRE AT NIGHT CLUB Mobile Firefighters responded to a fire in the attic at Donovan's Club, located at 2944 Cedar Crescent Drive, this Friday morning, July 7, 2000. The call was received at approximately 4:16 a.m. and firefighters arrived shortly after at approximately 4:20 a.m. reporting smoke and flames coming from the roof of the one-story, masonry building. Firefighters were able to keep the fire contained in the attic area above. The fire appears to have originated in the attic at the rear of the structure, mid way above the bathrooms. The fire extended through the roof. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department but does not appear to be suspicious. The owner, Donald Frazier, told fire investigators that he and the bartender had closed up the club around 10:15 p.m. The estimated damage is $30 thousand. No injuries were reported. Engines 9, 16, 20, truck 24, rescue 24 and District 4 Chief Harold Miller responded. ###
