Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org FIREFIGHTER CANDIDATE PHYSICAL ABILITY TESTING (CPAT) TO BE OFFERED Mobile Fire Officials will be offering the required Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) for the position of firefighter. The CPAT is one of the requirements for potential candidates to become a firefighter in the State of Alabama. If a person is interested in becoming a firefighter with Mobile Fire-Rescue (MFRD) and is not a certified Alabama firefighter that has already passed the CPAT; you must take this test to be eligible for hiring. MFRD will be conducting a CPAT May 9-13 and 16-20. There are only 500 open testing positions available. To sign up for the CPAT test, potential candidates must go to MFRD’s Training Academy, located at 860 Owens Street (across from the City of Mobile Animal Shelter), on Wednesday, March 9 or Thursday, March 10 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Candidates must bring and show a valid drivers license to sign up for the CPAT Test. For those who sign-up for the CPAT, MFRD will have a video orientation on Friday, March 11 and Monday, March 14, 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. This is not an offer of employment; this is just sign up to take the required CPAT.
